When I first stumbled across TPK, I thought it was too good to be true. But having benefited from this opportunity, I can unequivocally say, it is good and it is most definitely true.
Suffice it to say, when somebody offers you a free adventure and you’re an adventure loving family, it can be difficult to settle on an option, but we choose water skiing as we had never done it before. TPK arranged EVERYTHING, even offering an overnight hotel stay so we wouldn’t have to drive home too tired right after our activity. That was a great idea!
Our activity was booked for Friday 11th of August and we looked on with trepidation at the beginning of the week as the weather did not even closely resemble weather you would want to be outside in.
However, as Friday rolled around, we were treated to a bright and hot and clear day…. and we were overjoyed.
We got to Action Watersports…
full of excitement and after the mandatory paperwork, we got changed into our wetsuits. We had a few minutes of land training and we were ready to hit the water. My boys opted for wake boarding while my husband, daughter and I opted for skis.
The children went first and you would swear they had done this all their lives. it would be an understatement to say they made it look easy, but the fact that they are accomplished snow boarders/ skiers must have helped. I used to chalk their agility up to their lower centre of gravity. Now that they are taller than me, that reason doesn’t quite fly. We all agreed on one thing…. It was tiring work.
While it seemed unnatural at first to have the waterskis tucked up under your bum while in the water, the reassuring shouts of Joe who manned the boat made all the difference… ” Stay down! Stay down! Stand up! Stand up! Arms straight! Arms straight! Woohoo! Woohoo!” His enthusiasm was unrivalled. I can’t imagine having to cheer whole day.
We had a great time… Watersports is something we will definitely try again!!!!
